Effective usage of a credit card

The usage of credit cards in India has increased by leaps and bounds over the years. The fact that they can be used in a number of places and with such ease is what attracts everyone towards them. It is also very feasible and one can get a credit card within minutes. However, one needs to understand how they work and make the most of them without creating huge debts. In the following lines, we shall discuss how to use credit cards wisely.

Tips for using plastic money

1. The first thing to remember is always use a credit card when there is no cash. It is to be saved for any emergencies or when one is short of cash and has to make an important purchase.

2. Making the full payment against the outstanding amount on the bill every month is the best way to use a credit card without paying huge interests.

3. Having a number of credit cards is not a good idea. Try to limit the number so as to manage them well. This will keep the expenses within the limit and one will remember the available balance at all times.

4. Whilst applying for a credit card, ensure that the limit is not too high. It should be enough to take care of any contingencies. If the limit is more, one will be tempted to use it even for smaller purchases.

5. There are many banks that issue credit cards and therefore, the interest rates are also different. One can also speak with the representative for a lower rate than what is being offered.

6. Make the bill payment before the due date. This is something which most of the people forget. In order to keep a tab on the same, using the internet to check the transactions at regular intervals and knowing when to pay is a good idea.
It is a fact that using credit cards whilst traveling is much better than carrying a large amount of cash. For people who travel frequently, there are specific cards which are meant for the purpose. These will also help in getting free miles whilst flying, etc. People who own such cards even get discounts on their flight tickets.

If the outstanding balance on a credit card becomes a problem, the same can be transferred to another card with a lower rate of interest. This is called balance transfer. The process is very simple and it will not hamper the credit score also.

It is important to keep up the credit score as this is the means to get any kinds of loans. In order to keep up the score, make sure that the outstanding balance on the credit card is always paid in full by the due date and there are no pending charges. If there are cards which are not being used by a person, the same need to be closed as they may attract annual charges and other fees.

The basics of a travel insurance policy

Traveling abroad certainly has a lot of quirks. You are going to be in a completely new country. There is a chance that you don’t know how the new country works. We know that you’ve done your homework and preparation to go to another country, but this is not as simple. You might not know how to go about any calamities or problems in a new country. However, you need to be prepared. You are going to be miles away from your home and you need to have some sort of a support system to make sure that you won’t get into too much trouble when you’re abroad. Now, how can you do something like that?

Well, you need to get travel insurance! If you are traveling abroad, you’re going to need a travel insurance plan. The travel insurance will cover all the basic insurance covers you need for a brief period of time. Of course, you can get the travel plan to cover the duration of your stay in another country. The travel insurance will cover your needs of medical emergencies as well. You are even eligible to get medical check ups with this insurance. It will also cover other circumstances where emergency steps have to be taken- such as accidents, cancellation of flight, postponement of flight, loss of baggage etc.

Eligibility: In order to be eligible to get travel insurance while traveling abroad, the applicant has to be within the age group of 6 months to 70 years. People in the 70-85 age group will be given a senior citizen insurance.

The insurance will last for as long as you have signed up for. It will be good for you to make your insurance cover a time period that is a little longer than the time of your trip. This way, in case something unforeseen happens, you will still be covered by insurance. You can get insurance with coverage of 24 hours, a month, 180 days or 360 days. These are the basic options. Of course, there are some insurance plans that last longer than 360 days too.

Coverage of the policy: The coverage of the insurance will vary depending on where you are going. In fact, there are some countries that have a specified minimum on the amount of coverage you need as well.

Usually the price of the insurance will vary depending on all the things that you want to be covered for. You can choose to be covered for medical conditions, check up, baggage loss, flight cancellation or delay, or any other such unforeseen situations. Of course, you can choose the coverage area of your insurance.

Choosing the right travel insurance is going to be very important for you. You have to understand your condition and needs and the place where you’re going in order to come up with the right kind of travel insurance for yourself. Remember- the right travel insurance is one which will cover all your basic needs.
